Supporting 1170th Worldwide Blood Donation Drive
The World Mission Society Church of God is a non-profit Christian organization since 1964 with over 8,000 branches in more than 175 countries. The aim is to deliver Mother's love to the world by doing good deeds, giving help to our neighbors, and protecting the environment.
In the month of April, the worldwide branches of the organization held the blood donation drive under the event title "Worldwide Blood Drive to Give Life through the Love of Passover 2023". In Singapore, this event was held on 23 April 2023 (Sun) at 10 am in Bloodbank @ HSA with H.E Carlos Vasquez, Ambassador of Peru to Singapore gracing the blood drive event as the Guest-of-Honour.
The blood drives consistently held by the Churches of God all over the world greatly help relieve the blood shortage, eliminate personal, social, and cultural prejudices about blood donation, and encourage people to participate. Ever since the Covid-19 pandemic, blood donations have been on a declining trend as flagged by the Singapore Red Cross. Blood is needed to save lives in times of emergencies and to sustain the lives of those with medical conditions. Every hour of the day, 15 units of blood are used in Singapore. According to HSA, about 400 units of blood are needed daily to meet the blood supply needs of patients in Singapore.
Through this event, about 50 units of blood were donated, which in turn can save up to 150 lives. Awareness of the importance of voluntary blood donation was also raised among 178 participants which consisted of mainly youths and young adults. In support of this event, Nano Singapore donated 180 bottles of Nano Vit C Immunity & Recovery vitamin supplements for all the participants.
